Our Vision

As a school community, we reviewed our vision and values to tie in with our 150th Anniversary, which we celebrated in April 2023. After consulting with the wider school community, including the children, parents and carers, staff and governors, three core Christian values that underpin our shared vision for the school were agreed on. They are:
Friendship, Peace and Courage.

Three values have been chosen as our school logo contains three stars. Each star now represents one of these core values, which will help the children understand what we are reaching and aiming for. This has been captured in our vision statement for the school:

Together, through Friendship, in Peace and with Courage, we ‘Reach for the Stars
These are the words that we teach the children to help them to understand and live out these values:

Friendship – I show kindness and understanding to everyone

Peace – I live in harmony with myself and others

Courage – I overcome challenges and show bravery to do what is right

Vision and Values Statement

Relationships are the foundation of our school and they are underpinned by our three core Christian Values of Friendship, Peace and Courage. Our aim is to provide a school community where everyone feels happy, safe and thrives in all that they do.

Our vision of ‘Reach for the Stars’ embodies every member of our school community working together, to be the very best that they can be. Our positive school culture and Christian ethos is of great importance to us all and develops strong roots within each child, allowing them to flourish as human beings and in their relationships with others.

The inspiration for our vision has its origins in the following quote from the bible:

Colossians 3:12: ‘clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’

As a Church of England school, it is very important that our shared vision has high regard for, and respects, the foundation that the school was built upon 150 years ago. Grounding our vision and values in this quotation from Colossians, will enable us to teach the children how these qualities will help them to develop and maintain positive relationships with others, live in harmony with themselves and one another and have the courage to do what is right.
